Here are a few of the most asked questions that we get at Green Spark regarding our products and services. If you don’t find the answer that you are looking for here, please feel free to get in touch with us.
Getting solar panels helps to cut down your household’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources – such as coal and gas – and reduce your carbon footprint. Rather than using electricity that is sourced through the combustion of fossil fuels, a primary cause of global warming, solar power is a clean energy option that reduces the amount of harmful greenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. It produces no air pollution or greenhouse gas emissions.
In most cases, implementing solar power at your home saves you money on electricity bills because you are offsetting the electricity you use by getting it from the Solar Power System, rather than the grid. The feed-in tariff you receive for your surplus power will also reduce the amount of electricity you buy from the grid. Solar panel systems also require minimal maintenance. The durability, together with the quality installation job we can provide, will also ensure they last you through the years. Be sure to enquire about our solar panel cleaning and servicing options.
The Queensland Solar Bonus Scheme is in place to pay you for the surplus electricity your home generates through the installation of solar power systems.
Your eligibility for government solar rebates will depend on several factors, like size of the system and location (postcode) of your home.
After you have contacted Green Spark to arrange a home visit with one of our qualified electricians, we will conduct an on-site assessment of your household’s suitability. We will then design a solar power system that meets your individual needs, which you are able to review before we install it.
Green Spark Electrical is able to advise you on whether your home is a good candidate for solar power. However, factors that can improve your potential include:
– A reasonably large rooftop
– Minimal shade caused by factors like nearby trees, chimneys, satellite dishes, or neighbouring buildings
– A reasonably sunny climate
The amount of electricity generated will depend on the size of your system, the direction it’s facing, whether there is any shade on the system, and your local climate.
A typical installation process will take around a day to complete, after which your panels are ready for immediate use. However, in some rare situations installation can take longer.
Although the amount of power generated may be less on overcast days, solar panels can still produce a considerable amount of energy in cloudy weather. Unlike shade, fog and cloud allow for some sunlight to pass through and reach your rooftop.
Green Spark will advise of the rebates and feed-in tariffs available at the time of quotation, as these are dependent on the size of your system and your electricity retailer. Contact us to find out more.
Yes, we will guarantee that a feed-in tariff will be received and advise you of how much is available. We stay up-to-date with all the changes in the world of solar. Green Spark will send an application in for solar to be approved BEFORE we install so that you can be assured that your meters are correct and you are eligible to receive a feed-in tariff.
Generally, our inverters come with a 5–10 year warranty; however, the warranty you receive will depend on the product you’ve purchased. The warranty on top-end inverters can be extended to up to 25 years via the manufacturer’s own Australian offices. Panels generally carry a 10-year factory warranty and a 25-year guarantee to produce over 80% of their nominated power output after the 25-year period.
